The radial-rift saw mill took years to design and is the only one of its kind in the world. The mill produces a larger quantity of near identical rift-grained boards from each log, creating a floor with a more uniform grain structure and color consistency across the width of wider boards.

Charles was one of the original pioneers in field applied ultra violet cured coatings for floors. The process allows buildings such hospitals to be maintain with virtually no down time and no Volatile Organic Compounds being released into the interior environment.

The coatings are formulated using special resins which when combined with additives called photo initiators will cure at the speed of light when introduced to the proper spectrum of light.

These types of coatings had been used in large factories and were applied by large machines. Formulating coatings that could easily be applied by hand had never been achieved before. It took thousands of test samples to be successful.

Transforming large, fragile stationary factory curing equipment into a portable, durable, easy to use and yet affordable design took many years of prototyping and testing.
